BC Vehicle Lien Registration – 1 Year Term
$30.00
A vehicle lien is a legal claim registered against a car, truck, trailer, or other motor vehicle to secure repayment of a debt or obligation. It gives the lender or service provider the right to repossess or take legal action if the borrower defaults.
This service allows you to register a lien in the BC Personal Property Registry, protecting your financial interest in a vehicle.
Who typically registers a lien?
- Lenders and financing companies offering vehicle loans or leases.
- Private sellers selling a car through a payment plan.
- Garage keepers or mechanics claiming unpaid repair or storage fees under the Garage Keepers Lien Act.
To register a lien, you’ll need:
- Secured Party: At least one secured party’s name, address, and email (can be a person or business).
- Debtor(s): The legal name of at least one individual or business that owes the debt. If you’re registering both a business and the person behind it, enter each as a separate debtor. A mistake in the debtor’s name may invalidate the entire registration, so please double-check before submitting.
- Collateral Details: At least one type of collateral must be included (e.g., motor vehicle, trailer, boat, outboard motor, or aircraft), with:
- Vehicle Type
- Serial Number or VIN
- Year, Make, and Model
Once registered, the lien becomes searchable in the BC Personal Property Registry, alerting future buyers or lenders of your legal interest.
Protect your right to collect what you’re owed. We handle the registration process accurately and efficiently, so your claim is legally recorded and enforceable.
